The last time I posted was September 14th, 2012.
And the time before that was August 25th, 2012.
Oops. I did it again.
I waited WAY too long between posts to actually get something up on here!
And so today, I thought it was probably time for me to get it together!
So here's a little look at what we've been doing in Mrs. Newkirk's class over the past week (okay, let's be honest...the past few weeks).
Problem & Solution.
My students were paired up with puzzle pieces and had to come up with a likely problem for a solution or solution for a problem.

We've been talking about what thinking good readers do and we have been trying to have accountable conversations like "super readers". I got the idea for this anchor chart over at the Accidental Teacher, Mom, Runner's blog. We are adding different items to our super-reader's brain every day. Of course, we haven't "thought" of everything yet!
Here's what we have so far...

The kids loved these fun Venn Diagrams we made out of hula hoops. I put one object in each hoop (golf ball/tennis ball, fork/spoon, chapter book/picture book, paper plate/styrofoam plate). They had to come up with similarities and differences and put them on notecards and then check each other's work.
