So back in this post on April 13th, I introduced Snowball Saturday...a piece of the blog where I keep you up-to-date on our financial progress and our "dream-building" that we're doing with our debt snowball.
And already, I missed a Saturday.
I've been sick. Well, actually, I still am. It all started with what I thought was allergies, but I'm beginning to second-guess my original self-diagnosis. I know...I'm a teacher, not a doctor.
So ANYway...here's the second Snowball Saturday (two weeks later), and boy do things look different in our debt snowball!
Last week, Matthew and I consolidated all of our "small debt" (medical bills, business credit card, his truck, etc.). Now, this did not change our debt amount at all whatsoever. We just moved debt. It didn't change the debt snowball a whole heck-of-a-lot...less than a year on the final payoff date.
However, it did change one REALLY BIG thing! Our monthly budget!
Our new payment for the consolidated loan is $310 a month.
The payments from the items that we have now paid off totaled $711.
So we are paying $400 dollars less every month!
And the great thing is, now that we're both on the same page...we'll be putting that on top of our other debt instead of going out to eat 20 times a month or buying something ridiculous that we'll regret later! That isn't all worked into the new debt snowball, so I'll have to update you on that soon, when we decide what we're going to pay where!
Look for the new and improved debt snowball update next weekend, after we crunch some numbers together this week and decide what will be best for our little family.
Thanks for listening. Again.
