Last year, at this time, I shared ten tips for starting the school year off right.
I really had planned to kind of do the same thing this year...reviewing some of those items from last year and adding some more ideas for keeping organized through the school year.
However, as I mentioned in my last blog post, summer has just really gotten away from me and I am not half as organized as I was last year at this time!
Last year, I took these pictures of the girls a few weeks before school started. I made sure to capture Harlee's pre-kindergarten summer photos in a way that would be memorable. I used a chalkboard and wrote a big "K" beside her so I would always remember that this is what she looked like before she went to school.
Well...this morning, as I was rocking my youngest back to sleep after an allergy/asthma situation, it hit me that we haven't done any "summer before 1st grade" pictures yet. And so, I decided that when I'm finished with my PTO meeting and finished editing the sessions I need to finish this afternoon, we will go take some pictures.
Some "my baby is growing up too fast" pictures.
And of course, I'll snap some of the Claire Bear as well, looking just about like Harlee did in these images from last year, since they're slowing morphing into twins.
Check out the difference that one year makes. Last year's before school picture is on the left. The picture on the right was taken for our church directory a month or two ago. It all goes too, too quickly.
So today...I will edit photos, eat lunch for my mother-in-law's birthday, go to a PTO meeting, take photographs of my children, and hopefully get a good night's rest before starting teacher's meetings in the morning.
This is my life.
Sometimes it feels like there are not enough hours in the day.
Sometimes I can't sleep at night because of everything running through my brain.
Sometimes I move items to the next day on my to do list three or four times in one week.
Sometimes I can't keep my eyes open at 6:30 at night.
Sometimes I laugh. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I laugh and cry at the same time.
Sometimes I just sit with my family on the couch even though I know there are other things I should be doing.
I am busy. I am disorganized. I am blessed.
This is my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Happy School Year, friends.
